The versatile defender Edmilson, along with the Brazilian national team, will not go to the World Championship in Germany after suffering a knee injury during training on Monday. The 29-year-old Edmilson, who won the UEFA Champions League two weeks ago, capable of playing both in defense and in midfield, was examined by doctors on Tuesday, and today (Wednesday) it was decided to remove him from the national team lineup. "After consulting with the coaching staff, team captain Cafu, and Edmilson, it was decided that Edmilson would be removed from the lineup and will not go to the World Championship in Germany with the Brazilian national team," says the official statement of the Brazilian Football Federation. Edmilson will be replaced in the national team by Mineiro, who plays for "Sao Paulo."
