Ukrainian national team striker Andriy Shevchenko is moving to London to play for around 45 million euros. The 29-year-old player signed a four-year contract on Wednesday with the last two years' English champions.

"I am moving from one strong club to another. I think now is the most suitable time to join Chelsea club," said Sheva. "I like the mentality of this club. They want to win every game they play."

"I have been following Mourinho's career over the past few years and what he is capable of has made a huge impression on me," Shevchenko didn't spare praise for his new coach. "My decision to go play for Chelsea is definitely not for money. I hope the club will quickly sort out all the details and I will go to the World Cup, proud to be a Chelsea player."

The Ukrainian arrived in 1999 and won the Champions League, Scudetto, Italian Cup, as well as the Italian Super Cup and the European Super Cup with this club. Throughout his career at this club, he scored 173 goals.

The amount paid for the footballer is the sixth largest in the history of all football deals and probably the largest in British history - it is believed that the acquisition of the Ukrainian cost Chelsea club slightly more than defender Rio Ferdinand, whom Man Utd bought from Leeds for 30 million pounds in 2002.
