Friendly Matches - Various Results © EuroFootball.com

Yesterday (Wednesday), as has become customary in recent times, friendly international matches were played, in many of which participants of the upcoming World Cup showed off their game.

In Group D, along with Mexico, Portugal, and Angola, Iran managed to erase a two-goal deficit in the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina and won 5-2, but experts pointed out the very unreliable defense line of Iran.

Another World Cup participant, the national team of Paraguay, celebrated a victory by defeating Georgia 1-0. The only goal of the match in the second half was scored by Nelson Haedo-Valdez, who recently moved to "Borussia" Dortmund.

On Wednesday, France also celebrated a victory, beating the non-qualifying Denmark national team 2-0. The goals for the French were scored by Thierry Henry in the first half and veteran Sylvain Wiltord successfully converted a penalty in the second half.

The only match that featured two World Cup participants ended in a draw at 1-1. The Italy national team took the lead in the match against Switzerland after Alberto Gilardino's goal, but later Daniel Gygax equalized the result.

On Wednesday, two World Cup participants considered underdogs suffered defeats: Saudi Arabia had to admit a minimal advantage to Turkey, and Slovenia defeated the Trinidad and Tobago national team 3-1, with Milivoje Novakovic scoring a hat-trick.
