London's head coach J. Mourinho announced that he wants Brazilian star Roberto Carlos to join the English champions club. According to J. Mourinho, he is "the best left-back in the world".
"Roberto is already thirty-three, but I think he is the best footballer in his position and I hope he will accept our offer," J. Mourinho said in an interview with a Portuguese television. "I'm not one of those who pay attention to the player's age. I'm also not one of those who think the most important thing is what he does in ninety minutes on the field or how much time he spends there."
Since 1996, when he joined the Madrid "Real" club, R. Carlos has helped the team win three Spanish "La Liga" league titles. He has been playing for the Brazilian national team since 1992. In 1998, he played in the World Cup final, where Brazil defeated the French national team, and in 2002 he became a world champion. Brazil will be represented by R. Carlos in this year's World Cup.
Last week, the player announced that "Chelsea" club offered him a three-year contract and we will hear the response before the start of the World Cup. The player still has a one-year contract with the Madrid "Real" team.
