Team security guard George Boateng extended the contract he had to finish this summer with the team that finished 14th in last year's Premier League championship. The 31-year-old footballer from Ghana extended the contract for another three years.

"All this took quite a long time, apparently, I started negotiations with the club last year. However, we could never find time to sit down and discuss everything, we had other priorities," Boateng says on the club's official website. "But even then I clearly expressed my position and felt that I wanted to stay. When we sat down at the negotiation table with the team manager, my lawyers, and wife, we resolved everything in one day. I did not even consider offers from other clubs. I am happy not only because I stayed, but also because I kept my word given to the club and all those people, especially our fans, who doubted if I would really stay in the team."

Boateng arrived at the Midlsbro team four years ago from the team for 5 million pounds.
