In the Scottish media, reports have appeared that the main candidate to take up the position of sports director of Edinburgh's "Hearts" club is former Lithuanian national team and current Liepaja "Metalurgs" coach Benjamin Zelkevicius.
It is said that the owner of "Hearts", Lithuanian businessman Vladimir Romanov, has already compiled a list of candidates and will soon appoint a new person to the vacant position of sports director. One of the most experienced and well-known specialists from Lithuania, B. Zelkevicius, is expected to compete for this position next week. He was a student of Valdas Ivanauskas, who was both a coach of Vilnius "Zalgiris" team and the national team, and is currently acting as a strategist for "Hearts".
However, when asked to comment on these rumors, B. Zelkevicius neither confirmed nor denied anything: "I know Valdas well, he is a good person. I wish him and "Hearts" success, but it is difficult for me to talk about it now. Currently, I have a contract with "Metalurgs". Last season we won the league, this year we will play in the Champions League, so I can't say anything more."
