Very unsuccessfully last season, the club that appeared in both France and Europe is strengthening the team for the next season and announced that they have signed a contract with Croatian national team and Kyiv "Dynamo" defender Jerko Leko.
The 26-year-old defender has been one of the leaders of the Ukrainian team in recent seasons and expressed a desire to move to a stronger European club. Initially, it was thought that the player would use the World Cup to demonstrate his sporting form, but the footballer decided not to wait and signed a contract with his new team even before the start of the competition.
As reported, Leko sacrificed part of his time dedicated to preparing for the World Cup in order to go to France and finalize all the contract formalities. As the player himself says, he believes that this contract will help him maintain a place in the national team of his home country for a long time.
"I wanted to move to a strong European club and I believe that by playing in France, I will maintain my place in the national team for a long time," said Leko.
Leko will start the World Cup battles next week with the Croatian national team. In Group F, Croatia will play alongside the national teams of Brazil, Australia, and Japan.
