French national team goalkeeper Fabien Barthez's career curve seems to be slowly declining. The former goalkeeper of "Manchester United" and "Marseille" will probably play for one of the weakest teams in "Ligue 1" next season.
After a fairly successful last season, when the goalkeeper helped "Marseille" achieve a respectable 5th position in the French league, the player decided to leave the club for personal reasons and rejected several financially lucrative offers from Qatari teams.
Now, according to the French press, 34-year-old Barthez is ready to move to southern France and sign a contract with the "Toulouse" team, coached by his good friend Elie Baup. This is believed to be the main reason for the player's choice. It's worth mentioning that the Toulouse team finished only 16th in the last "Ligue 1" championship.
However, with the French national team preparing for the World Cup and Barthez regaining the position of the main team goalkeeper after a long break, he still has time to change his decision, as no official documents have been signed with "Toulouse" yet.
