On Tuesday, it was officially confirmed that Victor Fernandez returned to the helm of the "Zaragoza" team as head coach for the next four seasons.

"I am an eternal optimist and very ambitious, so I want to bring the 'Zaragoza' club back to European tournaments," V. Fernandez said at a press conference on Monday. "To return? It wasn't a difficult decision, as I have old ties with the club, and also because a new impressive project was proposed."

V. Fernandez previously worked in the "Zaragoza" team. In 1995, his team surprised everyone by winning the UEFA Cup final against the "Arsenal" team.

Later, he coached the "Tenerife" team, then spent four seasons from 1998 to 2002 with Vigo's "Celta" club, which participated in the UEFA Cup every year. He also coached the Seville "Betis" team for two seasons, and from August 2004, the "Porto" club, which he left to join "Chelsea" alongside Jose Mourinho. During those years, V. Fernandez helped the Portuguese team win the World Club Cup. However, a lack of success in the national league led to his dismissal in January 2005, and since then he had been unemployed.

He replaces Victor Munoz as head coach of "Zaragoza", who left the club after his contract ended. Although "Zaragoza" reached the King's Cup final, where they lost to the "Espanyol" team, they only finished eleventh in the "Primera" division – likely the main reason why V. Munoz was not offered a contract extension.

It is also known that Agapito Iglesias bought the majority of shares from the club's former president Alfonso Solans last month.
