A week ago, instead of the injured forward Mirko Vičiničius, the national team included his son, defender Dušan Petkovičius. The head coach of the Serbian and Montenegro national team, Ilja Petkovičius, initially had this thought due to the intense pressure from the media and the public, but now he has abandoned this idea - the player will not go to Germany.
The withdrawal of the head coach's son was hastened by negative reports about him in the media.
Together with the remaining part of the team, the 31-year-old defender did not travel to Germany, and a team representative has already confirmed the player's decision to withdraw from the national team.
"He couldn't handle the tension that was bothering him," said one of the team representatives. There were many things against him, and he didn't want to cause any worries to anyone, both to players and the coach. He didn't want to spoil the atmosphere prevailing in the team."
"The pressure on me, my father, and my team friends was too much. I don't want to be part of it, and I won't fly to Germany," said the Belgrade "OFK" defender.
The player who will replace D. Petkovičius in the team will be announced on June 10.
