Due to minor injuries, the captains of the German and English national teams Michael Ballack and David Beckham missed their teams' training sessions.
The German national team player felt unwell after a friendly match against Colombia, which they won 3-0. Upon learning this, head coach Jurgen Klinsmann allowed M. Ballack to skip training on Monday, but the player also missed Tuesday's session.
It is expected that M. Ballack will be able to train at full strength on Wednesday and recover in time for the first championship match, where the Germans will face Costa Rican footballers.
A similar situation occurred with David Beckham. Like Ballack, he also missed the training session on Monday, but Beckham's foot pain seems to have subsided and he rejoined his team mates for training on Tuesday.
Three of Beckham's team mates - Garry Neville, who had previously injured his Achilles tendon, as well as John Terry and Ashley Cole, who are struggling with knee problems, also returned to training. It is believed that all four players should feature in the starting lineup in the first English match against the Paraguayan national team.
