The president of the French club Pape Diouf went to Liverpool on Thursday to convince the Premier League club to sell French forward Djibril Cisse.
Cisse, who does not get along well with Liverpool's coach Rafael Benitez, mentioned that he should leave the club and named Marseille as a possible destination.
Two other Ligue 1 clubs - Lyon and Paris St Germain - are also interested in the forward.
France's national team coach Raymond Domenech urged the player to make a decision and resolve all transfer issues before the start of the 2006 World Cup final stage, with the match against Switzerland on June 13.
Cisse is one of two national team players whose future is still unclear. The other is Marseille's midfielder Franck Ribery, who has received offers from Lyon and Manchester United. Sources report that the future of the player, who shone in national team matches against Mexico and Denmark, will be clear after the last friendly match of France against China before the World Cup.
