Goalkeepers

Established himself in the main goalkeeper position after the 2004 European Championship, succeeding Joerg Stiel who ended his national team career. Impressed during the match in Paris against the local team, which ended in a draw. However, he faced criticism from the press after a match against the Cyprus team, where Switzerland won 3-1, but Pascal Zuberbuehler made a very foolish mistake which led to a goal. He scored a goal in a free kick match against the French national team in October, replacing Philippe Senderos in the starting lineup during the knockout matches against the Turkish team.
