German champions Bayern Munich are not standing still and are already strengthening for the new season - the team that finished third last season has acquired Belgian national team defender Daniel van Buyten.
It is estimated that Bayern Munich paid 7 million pounds (about 35 million litas) for this defender, making him the most expensive player ever sold by Hamburger SV.
Last season, van Buyten was one of the key players for the team and helped them secure third place in the Bundesliga championship. In 36 Bundesliga and UEFA Cup matches, the defender scored 4 goals.
However, Hamburg has already found a replacement for van Buyten - the team has acquired his friend and Belgian national team defender Vincent Kompany.
