The coach of the Japanese national team, Brazilian Zico, is wary of his first opponents in the World Cup - the Australians. Before today's match between the two teams in Kaiserslautern, the coach stated that his players may not be able to avoid injuries against the athletic, tall, and sometimes rough Australians. Zico, who has participated in the World Cup three times as a player, recalled a recent friendly match between the Netherlands and Australia where three Dutch players were injured.
Zico also singled out strikers Mark Viduka and Harry Kewell, who play in England, promising to pay special attention to them.
"But I am confident that we can play our style and show a good result. Our attack will also have an impact," said the Japanese strategist.
Zico does not hide his ambitious plans for this World Cup and hopes to lead the Asian champions to the semi-finals.
