Bojan Prasnikar was left without a job, as the Slovenian Football Association relieved him of his duties as the national team coach.

Slovenia has been unable to achieve victories in seven consecutive matches - they lost the last three friendly matches against Poland, Latvia, and Switzerland. Doubts about Prasnikar's work arose when Slovenia lost to Croatia in the Euro-2004 qualification match, and after the failures in friendly matches, it seems that the national team management ran out of patience.

The 51-year-old Prasnikar coached his country's national team for the third time. In 1991, he was the first coach, in 1993, he was replaced and returned briefly after five years. But then came Srecko Katanec, who led Slovenia to Euro-2000 and the 2002 World Cup. The latter tournament was unsuccessful for Katanec, and he resigned from his position, giving way to Prasnikar. Now this coach has been dismissed, and his replacement will be determined at the association's meeting on May 24th.

This autumn, Slovenia will start the qualification cycle for the 2006 World Cup, where they are in Group 5 along with Italy, Norway, Scotland, Belarus, and Moldova.
