In the Czech national team - good news. After the tests conducted on Monday night, it became clear that the forward Jan Koller's injury is not as serious as initially thought.
The tall Czech player suffered the injury at the end of the first match against the United States and was immediately carried off the field on a stretcher.
The national team coach Karel Bruckner after the match did not set the team's fans up for the worst: although he did not dare to predict how long J. Koller would be unable to play, he said that the injury was serious.
"Unfortunately, his injury is very serious," the strategist said after the match. "Most likely he has suffered a significant muscle injury in the thigh. This is the only negative thing from this match. It's very unfortunate, because he was in good athletic form."
The loss of an experienced teammate spoiled the mood and the best player of the match and author of two goals, Tomas Rosicky, commented: "Such an injury - too high a price for victory. For a player like J. Koller, it's difficult to find a suitable replacement."
However, on Monday night, team representatives said that the tests conducted at the hospital showed that J. Koller did not tear his thigh muscle.
"We can confirm that the muscle is not damaged," said the team representative. "We will see how he feels tomorrow. Initially, it seemed that the injury was serious, but now we no longer think so."
