The captain of the Spanish national team and Real Madrid club, Raul, will most likely start the first H group match against Ukraine by watching the game from the bench among the substitute players.
The all-time leading goal scorer of the Spanish national team, on Monday participated in a light training session with the rest of his team mates, while the head coach of Spain, Luis Aragones, led tactical drills for those players who will start the match against Ukraine in Leipzig on Wednesday.
28-year-old Raul, who missed three months of the season due to a serious knee injury, scored only five goals for Real Madrid in the Spanish league and is currently trying to regain his fitness. The player scored a goal in the recent match against Egypt, but it seems that it did not convince L. Aragones that one of the team's symbols deserves a spot in the starting lineup.
Spain will also play against Tunisia and Saudi Arabia in Group H. Both of the latter teams are not considered favorites and will face each other on Wednesday.
