Debutantes at the World Championship - the Ukrainian national team - came out "underwhelmed" as they had to admit a convincing advantage of the Spanish national team with a score of 4-0. Two goals were scored by David Villa, one was scored by Fernando Torres, one was credited to Xabi Alonso, while the Ukrainians ended the match with ten players.

Leipzig Central Stadium, 43,000 spectators Referee: Massimo Busacca (Switzerland) Spain 4 - 0 Ukraine 13' [1 - 0] Xabi Alonso 17' [2 - 0] David Villa 48' [3 - 0] David Villa (Penalty) 81' [4 - 0] Fernando Torres 47' Vladislav Vashchuk (Ukraine) sent off the field Spain: Casillas; Pernia, Puyol, Ramos, Ibanez; Xavi, Alonso (55' Albelda), Senna, Garcia (77' Fabregas); Villa (55' Raul), Torres. In the first ten minutes of the game, the Spaniards controlled the ball more and attacked more actively, but failed to create anything dangerous. Meanwhile, Ukrainian footballers managed to score three goals against themselves during that time.

Finally, in the 13th minute of the match, the Spaniards raised a corner, after which Xabi Alonso directed the ball towards the goal. The Spaniards took the lead with a score of 1-0.

In the 16th minute of the match, Andrejus Rusolas brought down a player from the Spanish team near the penalty area and was awarded a yellow card for it. D. Villa skillfully executed this penalty, scoring the second goal into the goal guarded by Aleksandr Shovkovsky. It is worth mentioning that the ball initially hit the head of the Ukrainian defender who received the card, and this also confused the goalkeeper.

The first threat towards the Spanish goal only emerged in the 31st minute, when Andrejus Gusinas entered the penalty area, but I. Casillas played reliably, preventing the ball from reaching the goal.

The Ukrainian players found themselves offside several times, while the Spaniards did not think of retreating to defend and launched several dangerous attacks. After the first half, the score was 2-0 in favor of the Spanish national team.

At the beginning of the second half, Oleg Blokhin substituted two players and strengthened the attack. However, just after a couple of minutes, the situation on the field became even worse for the Ukrainian team supporters. Fernando Torres received the ball from a teammate, entered the penalty area, found himself one-on-one against the goalkeeper, V. Vashchuk managed to intercept him, but, in the opinion of the referee, he did so unfairly and was sent off the field, a penalty of eleven meters was also awarded, which was converted by D. Villa. The World Championship debutant found themselves at the bottom.

The Spaniards still did not stop attacking. In the 52nd minute of the game, D. Villa missed the opportunity to score the third goal, later replaced by Raul. The Ukrainian footballers also launched an attack, but a strong shot from Voronin missed the goal by a whisker.

In the 73rd minute of the match, after a few nice passes, a shot towards the Spanish national team's goal followed, but once again failed to score. In the 81st minute, after Puyol's pass, Fernando Torres scored the last "dagger" into the heart of the Ukrainian team.

At the very end of the match, Iker Casillas made a mistake, giving a consolation goal to Voronin, but the excellent defenders managed to keep the goal "dry" and the match ended with a score of 4-0.
