England national team coach Sven-Goran Eriksson warned fans not to expect too much from recently recovered forward Wayne Rooney when he starts the final B group match against Sweden in the starting lineup.
W.Rooney returned to the field earlier than expected in the second B group match against Trinidad and Tobago. The young forward appeared on the field in the second half and played for about half an hour, since breaking his foot bone in a match against Chelsea, almost seven weeks had passed.
"I think he played well. I see him in training - he is healthy and can definitely play longer than a half," the coach said at a press conference on Monday. "But don't expect too much from him. You know he couldn't play for a long time. But he played well for 30 minutes and tomorrow he will play even better. I am sure of that. He looks better in training each day and he will be ready at 100% soon."
In Tuesday's match, one of the midfielders - either Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard - and forward Peter Crouch are likely to rest, as they would miss the next match if they receive a yellow card.
FIFA will cancel yellow cards for players before the quarter-finals if they have only one.
