The strategist of the Polish national team, Pawel Jan, after the decisive match against Costa Rica, said he felt relieved for his players achieving their first victory in the championship.
"It would be very disappointing to go home without earning any points or scoring goals," Jan said after beating Costa Rica.
"We were criticized for not scoring from set pieces, but today we succeeded and I am happy. Today it was very hot and I am glad the team responded to my tactical instructions," said the coach of the Polish national team, despite the fact that the Polish team was eliminated from the championship.
The Costa Rican coach, Alexandre Guimaraes, blamed foolish team mistakes for the team's elimination from the championship.
"We paid dearly for our lack of focus. It cost us in all three matches," Guimaraes said after losing to Poland. "Today, the goals conceded were due to our own carelessness."
"The team played well, but Poland gained an advantage with their physical strength in set pieces. We had enough chances to win and we are very disappointed leaving the field without deserving it. We fought until the end and will go home with a clear conscience," said disappointed team captain Luis Marin.
