The French club announced that their new coach will be Albert Emon - former assistant coach replacing the resigning Jean Fernandez, who became the head coach of "Auxerre".

J. Fernandez left the coaching position about a month ago, and since then, the "Marseille" club has actively started looking for a new coach. Among the candidates, the legendary French national team defender Didier Deschamps was mentioned, but he refused to lead the team. Finally, it was decided that A. Emon, who played for "Marseille" club from 1968 to 1978 and worked as an assistant coach since 2000, will be the head coach.

The first test for the coach is just around the corner: it is unclear whether he will be able to maintain the team's leader and rising French star Franck Ribery, who is being sought after by many European clubs and who would like to represent the French champions "Lyon" next year.

"Marseille" finished in the 5th place in the French championship last season and thus earned the right to participate in the UEFA Europa League.
