Giuseppe Pankaro will have to lie on the operating table next week after injuring his left ankle.
The AC defender will miss the European Championship as rehabilitation will take more than three months, and the European Championship in Portugal is already in a month.
"I have already informed Trapattoni (the coach of the Italian national team - ed.). I will have to watch the Italian games on TV. I am very disappointed that I will not be able to go to Portugal, but I will try to console myself with the recently won title of the Italian champion," the footballer said.
