Defender Andreas Hinkel, who did not make it into the German national team for the World Cup, will represent another team next season. The football player, who plays in the right-back position, has signed a four-year contract with a Spanish club.
The 24-year-old player still had a valid contract with Stuttgart for another year, but reportedly, Sevilla, looking for a replacement for the likely departing Daniel Alves, paid about 4 million euros for the German.
A.Hinkel, who started his career at Stuttgart, played 156 league matches for the club and scored one goal. The defender, who represented the German national team 17 times, is the second player who left the Bundesliga this summer and moved to Sevilla - the Spanish team has already been joined by Danish defender Christian Poulsen, who previously played for Schalke.
Stuttgart also said goodbye to Danish national team defender Jesper Gronkjaer, who decided to return to his homeland and signed a four-year contract with Kobenhavn. J. Gronkjaer, who started his career at Thisted in Denmark, has represented Aalborg, Ajax, Chelsea, Birmingham, and Atletico. He has played 60 matches for the national team and scored 5 goals.
Meanwhile, Sevilla should part ways with Daniel Alves. The player, who has long been on the club's radar, is expected to sign a contract with them next week. Alves has expressed his desire to represent a powerful club like Liverpool, but negotiations on the transfer fee have been ongoing for quite some time. Although Sevilla clearly did not want to lose one of the team's leaders, it is likely that the player will leave the club for around 15 million euros.
"The negotiations are very progressive, but everything will only be clear in a week," confirmed Alves' agent, Jose Rodriguez Basteris. "I hope that everything will be resolved in a few days because the difference in money is very small."
