On Sunday, the campaign of the upcoming Real Madrid club president elections that are shaking the football world continues. Lorenzo Sanz, who wants to return to his position after a longer break and is competing with three other candidates for 65,000 votes, sensationally announced on Tuesday that he had agreed to acquire the forward Adriano from Milan and the Brazilian national team.
"I have reached an agreement with Moratti to acquire Adriano in case I become the president of Real. We have also agreed on the exchange of two players with Inter. Two players will move from Inter, and I am also preparing to acquire a Portuguese and an English player. I am ready to submit contracts on Thursday and prove to the people that I have achieved such results," said L. Sanzas, who served as the president of Real from 1995 to 2000, to Marca radio.
The 24-year-old Adriano had a less successful season last year and even had disagreements with Inter coach Roberto Mancini and teammates. This led to talks that the player could leave Milan, and now it is believed that if L. Sanzas, who recently failed to acquire Parma club, becomes the president of Real, Adriano could wear the royal team's jersey.
It is speculated that the Englishman and the Portuguese aiming to strengthen Real are Arsenal defender Ashley Cole and Ricardo Carvalho. It is still unclear which players might move to the Italian club, but among the candidates, forwards Raul and former Inter star Ronaldo are mentioned, and the place of Adriano in the team could be taken by Fiorentina's attacking leader Luca Toni.
After Florentino Perez's resignation in April, Fernando Martin also left the president's post, so presidential elections were announced at Real Madrid, and, as usual, candidates for this position make promises during the campaign: Juan Miguel Villar Mir has already announced his attempts to lure Arsenal's coach Arsene Wenger and Manchester United's midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo, while Arturo Baldasanas stated that he would invite Lyon's midfielder Mahamadou Diarra and Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, as well as the latter's teammates Joaquin and Jose Antonio Reyes from the Spanish national team.
