England national team and Manchester United defender Gary Neville trained with his teammates on Wednesday and slowly recovers from the injury suffered. The right-back participated in the team's training session which took place in Baden-Baden, and he was already running and kicking the ball.
G. Neville missed England's last 3 matches against Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden, and Ecuador, but should recover in time for the quarter-final match against Portugal.
The 31-year-old player also had additional training sessions with fitness coach Gary Lewin. G. Neville suffered an injury during training before the match against Trinidad and Tobago. He returned to the squad last week, but was advised to rest a bit more and fully recover from the injury.
Assistant coach and future England national team manager Steve McClaren revealed that the Manchester United player could play on Saturday.
"He needs a few more days of training, and I hope that he will have the opportunity to play in Saturday's match," McClaren said on Monday.
England national team finished first in Group B and faced Ecuador in the round of 16, defeating them after a tough battle with a score of 1-0. Meanwhile, Portugal also finished first in Group D, and in a dramatic penalty shootout, they beat the Dutch team with the same result. The match between England and Portugal will take place on Saturday, July 1st in Gelsenkirchen.
