On Wednesday, there was a surprise in the "A Lyga" championship - Panevezys' "Ekranas" suffered a crushing defeat against "Siauliai" as guests, allowing the country's champion to surpass Klaipeda's "Atlantas" in points lost, who convincingly defeated Marijampole's "Suduva" on their home ground. Meanwhile, the championship leader "Kaunas" continued their journey towards the gold medals by securing a win at home after conceding a goal and snatching victory in the last minutes against "Zalgiris".

In the match that took place in Siauliai, the first half ended goalless, but at the beginning of the second half, 19-year-old home team striker Vaidas Viktoravicius put "Siauliai" in the lead, and just a minute later Ilja Galyuza doubled the lead. Although "Ekranas" striker Povilas Luksi managed to reduce the deficit in the 58th minute, the victory for the people of Siauliai was secured by the goals of V. Viktoravicius and Andrius Sidlauskas.

Another failure for "Ekranas" allowed their advantage to be increased to 20 points by the "Kaunas" team, led by coach Eduard Malofeyev, who had left the training camp of the "Hearts" club. However, the leaders had to work hard for their victory against "Zalgiris" as Kaunas fell behind in the middle of the second half due to Igor Morinas. Still, Ričardas Beniušis leveled the score in the 78th minute, and three minutes before the end of the match, the victory for the Kaunas team was sealed by former Zalgiris player Giedrius Barevičius.

Two points behind in second place is "Atlantas", who played two fewer matches than "Ekranas" and managed to crush the "Suduva" team. The first goal for the seaside club was scored by Donatas Navikas at the end of the first half, and in the second half, Andrius Gedgaudas and Aivaras Laurišas scored within ten minutes to consolidate "Atlantas"' lead.
