The 35th tour: The intrigue remains © EuroFootball.com

After this weekend's 35th round of the "Ligue 1" championship matches, the intrigue in the championship remained, unlike in Italy, Spain, England, or Germany, where the champions are already clear (Milan, Valencia, Arsenal, and Werder - ed. note). However, the intrigue could have disappeared in France as well.

This could have happened if Ludovic Giuly hadn't scored a goal against "Marseille" in the last minute of the match, giving his team (Monaco - ed. note) a 1-0 victory, allowing them to leave with a two-point gap from "Lyon," who defeated "Metz" away. Otherwise, "Monaco" would have dropped to third place and would have been behind "Lyon" by 5 points, which would have been a lot until the end of the championship with just three rounds left.

Ambitions to fight for the champions' title are still held by the Paris "P.S.G" team, which defeated "Rennes" on Saturday and with three rounds left until the championship ended, they are two points behind "Lyon" and only one point behind "Monaco."

The team in fourth place, "Sochaux," suffered a somewhat unexpected defeat as they were defeated 3-0 by the "Lens" club. However, the good news for the "Sochaux" players is that the 5th place team, "Auxerre," failed to take advantage of their stumble as they only drew 1-1 with the bottom club, "Ajaccio."

Fans of French football are increasingly surprised by the "Le Mans" team, which has been playing superbly lately and has already won their third consecutive victory. This winning streak helped "Le Mans" rise from the bottom of the table to 18th place and gave the club's fans hope of remaining in "Ligue 1." It is worth mentioning that before this winning streak, "Le Mans" had only won five matches.
