French national team coach Raymond Domenech suggested that in football matches, a player should be immediately removed from the field if they are penalized. According to him, in this case there would be no risk of being disqualified.

"I think the current system (where players, having received two yellow cards in the same tournament stage, automatically have to miss the next stage's matches) is unfair, especially in the knockout stage, because it doesn't matter if you are eliminated and it creates difficulties if you progress further," said the French national team coach, whose team will face Portugal on Thursday.

"I think it would be better if a penalized player was immediately temporarily disqualified instead of 'carrying over' the card to the next match and risking disqualification," continued Raymond Domenech.

This removal from the field system exists in several sports, such as rugby, ice hockey, and others.

R. Domenech had criticized the refereeing of the championship before. At that time he thought that in several matches, the referees were too lenient and several French national team players were punished in controversial situations.

In this World Cup, a record number of yellow cards were shown, there were quite a few incidents related to refereeing. Also, in this championship, a new record was set - 27 red cards were shown.
