Former Brazilian and Japanese national team coach Zico has joined the team, replacing German coach Christoph Daum in the head coach position. Istanbul club announced this news on Tuesday.
On their official website, the club reports that the Brazilian has signed a 2-year contract with the Turkish team.
In this World Cup, the Japan national team led by Zico did not advance to the next stage and finished last in their group. They were defeated by the Australian and Brazilian teams, and their match against the Croatians ended in a 0-0 draw.
Under C. Daum's leadership, Fenerbahce finished second in the league last season, and in the 2004-2005 season, they won the league championship for the 16th time in the club's history.
