The best football player playing in Belgium was chosen from the Ivory Coast, striker Aruna Dindane. This 23-year-old player won with a 448-vote margin against his team-mate, only 18-year-old defender Vincent Kompany, who had no equals in the Young Player of the Year vote. In third place was the most productive player in the Belgian championship, striker Luigi Pieroni, playing for "Excelsior Mouscron" club. As expected, the Coach of the Year was chosen to be Hugo Broosas, the "Anderlecht" coach who led his team to the championship. The "Fair Play" prize went to the same club and to the Swedish national team defender Pär Zetterberg.
