Defender Gabri, who is currently in third place in the Spanish championship, has signed a new contract with a Catalan club. Just like the previous contract, the newly signed one will be valid until June 2006.
The Catalan superclub recently acquired the rights to players' image creation from the Catalan television TV3, and some players, including Xavi, decided to review this part of the contract.
Meanwhile, another Barcelona player, Dutchman Cocu, has the opportunity to stay at the club for another year. A new one-year contract was offered to the 33-year-old defender, former star of Eindhoven's PSV. Although it was thought that the Dutchman would leave the club after the season, his excellent performance this season made the club officials change their minds.
However, there are doubts as to whether the Dutchman will agree to sign the new contract, as, according to the Spanish press, his salary would be significantly reduced.
