"Real" president promises seven new players © EuroFootball.com

"Recently elected as the new President of Real Madrid, Ramon Calderon stated that the club has enough financial resources and will strengthen the team with 6 or 7 new players before the start of the new season.

“Our financial capabilities currently allow us to acquire those players that our team needs,” said Calderon. “Before August 3rd, our team should be supplemented with 6 or 7 new footballers.”

During the election campaign, Calderon claimed that he had already reached agreements with players like Kaka, Arjen Robben, and Cesc Fabregas for a move to the royal club. However, now as the club president, he admits that it will be very difficult to attract these players to join the team.

“While I was not yet elected as the team's president, I could freely talk to anyone I wanted,” said Calderon. “I had verbal agreements from Cesc and Kaka that they were ready to represent Real, but now, as the president, I must take full responsibility for the club's affairs and start negotiations with the teams these footballers represent.”

“I know it will be very difficult for us, but the team's financial situation allows us to try to acquire these players, and I believe in our success. For example, for Kaka, Real is willing to pay up to 50 million euros, so it will be very difficult for the Milan club to resist such an offer,” Calderon admitted.

However, Calderon acknowledged that he will first have to consider the wishes of the new team coach Fabio Capello and the club's sports director Predrag Mijatovic.

According to reports, Capello, who was appointed as the new coach of Real just a week ago, would like to see his former players from Juventus – Fabio Cannavaro, Gianluca Zambrotta, and Emerson – in Madrid next season.

“Capello knows very well what the team needs, and I am willing to help him get it. Next season we will have a great team, and I am sure that the fans will be very satisfied,” said Calderon.

Calderon also hinted that the team next season may likely not include Roberto Carlos from Brazil, who has been actively pursued by Roman Abramovich's London team for some time."
