The head coach of the team, Harry Redknapp, will try to persuade Sol Campbell to continue playing in the Premier League. The defender announced last week that after playing five seasons for Arsenal, with whom he became a UEFA Champions League runner-up last season. The English national team defender has been linked with the Italian giant Inter, as well as with the Turkish Fenerbahce, and the player mentioned that before ending his career as a professional footballer, he would like to play abroad. The Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, admitted that he believes the powerful center-back will leave the Premier League after 390 league games, but "Pompey" coach H. Redknapp hopes to attract the 31-year-old player to Fratton Park and will likely offer Campbell a contract. "When a player of such great quality becomes available, you cannot ignore him," the coach says. "He is a true giant among defenders." It is also speculated that the list of players the coach desires includes Manchester City center-back Sylvain Distin.
