The French Football Federation (FFF) has announced that the contract with the national team's head coach Raymond Domenech will be extended.
The 54-year-old coach, who took charge of France in 2004, saw his team lose to Italy in the World Cup final on Sunday after a penalty shootout ended 5-3. The coach's performance satisfied the federation leaders.
"It was unanimously proposed to extend the contract taking into account the team's excellent performance in the World Cup," said FFF president Jean-Pierre Escalettes.
The duration of the contract has not been disclosed, but it will be discussed at a FFF board meeting scheduled for August.
After an unimpressive performance in the qualifying matches and a rocky start to the World Cup, France defied skeptics' predictions and showed mature play, defeating Spain, Brazil, and Portugal to reach the final, where they lost to Italy after a fierce battle.
