The French champion team announced that they will not sell their forward Sidney Govou for less than 10 million euros.
Earlier, there were reports that the value of the forward who participated in the World Championships with the French national team is only 5 million euros, so clubs like "Blackburn", "Bolton", "Fulham", "Middlesbrough" and "Manchester City" immediately showed interest in the 26-year-old player.
The Scottish Glasgow Rangers club, whose coach this season became former Lyon strategist Paul Le Guen, who knows Govou well and is aware of all his capabilities, was also interested in the player. In recent times, the Spanish La Liga team Valencia has also shown interest in the player.
Having received such great interest from clubs, the leaders of Lyon were quick to announce that the player's price mentioned in the press is wrong and the team will definitely not give away their player for such a small amount. According to Lyon's president Jean-Michel Aulas, Govou can only leave the club when a team willing to pay at least 10 million euros for him is found.
"Everyone at the club was shocked when they found out that Govou was undervalued at just 5 million euros," - says the official Lyon website.
"The true value of a national team member is much higher and is around 10 million euros. This is the price that reflects the player's true value, taking into account his career achievements and titles won."
"After a few days, the player will turn 27, and it would be simply shameful to ask for just 5 million for a player of such age and potential."
Govou, who can play in both forward and full-back positions, lost in the World Cup final with the French national team on Sunday after an 11-meter penalty shootout against the Italian team, becoming the runner-up of the Planet. It is worth mentioning that the player was called up to the French national team for the World Cup at the last moment after another team forward, Djibril Cisse, got injured.
