The most famous and richest English Premier League clubs have directed all their efforts in the player market towards Italy, hoping to attract players involved in the match-fixing scandal.
Turin's Juventus and Fiorentina, as well as Milan with a deficit of 15 points in the upcoming season, will most likely be forced to sell their star players, who are already being targeted by London giants Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool, and Tottenham.
London's Chelsea is actively interested in the possibility of acquiring the Italian national team defender Alessandro Nesta from Milan, while Arsenal is linked with his teammate in the national team, goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
The English champions are also interested in three Juventus players: defenders Fabio Cannavaro and Gianluca Zambrotta, as well as midfielder Pavel Nedved.
It is believed that Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has his eye on two Juventus players: French national team forward David Trezeguet and Italian national team midfielder Mauro Camoranesi.
"Players are currently cheaper than three months ago," said the Liverpool manager. "All Juventus players are good, including Trezeguet. He did not play much in the World Cup, but that's because France has many good forwards."
It is said that Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson would like to acquire former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira.
"At the moment, we don't know the exact conditions," said the Red Devils' manager about the situation. "Some clubs may want to loan their stars for only one season, hoping to play in Serie A again next year, so this option is also possible."
The new Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gilli stated that the team will try to keep as many stars as possible and will not sell any of them cheaper than before.
Tottenham is also interested in two players: they would like to acquire French national team veteran defender Lilian Thuram and forward Filippo Inzaghi from Milan.
