London club coach Arsene Wenger announced that Swiss defender Philippe Senderos will miss the first months of the new season due to a shoulder injury.
The 21-year-old defender suffered the injury during the World Cup match between the Swiss and South Korean national teams. During the match, the player dislocated his shoulder, and it turned out that he will be unable to play for three months.
With long-time Arsenal defender S. Campbell leaving the team and the club practically left without healthy defenders, A. Wenger stated that the team will likely have to start looking at the player market.
"We lost Senderos for three months. Not only that, but Djourou and Clichy are also injured. If we find a player who can play in the center or left-back defender positions, we can continue to strengthen," said the Arsenal coach.
One of the candidates to strengthen the defense could be Curtis Davis, who represents West Bromwich Albion, and whom Wenger highly regards.
"I like Davis. I have not yet made an inquiry or an offer, but I like this player," said the French strategist.
However, the English club's problems do not end with Senderos' injury. Arsenal players who participated in the World Cup will return to training with the club this week, and Wenger admitted that Swedish goalkeeper Freddie Ljungberg has also suffered an injury.
"Ljungberg has inflammation in his foot," said Wenger. - "We will wait for the results of the medical examination. Then we will draw final conclusions."
