One of the leaders of the Croatian national team last year, striker Dado Pršo, has decided to end his career in the national team - this was announced on Tuesday by the country's football association president Vlatko Markovičius.
As reported, the main reason why the striker decided to withdraw from the national team is the constant knee injuries that have been plaguing him, causing the player to no longer risk it and focus all his efforts on club football.
The 32-year-old Glasgow forward has played a total of 32 matches in the Croatian national team, scoring 9 goals. The footballer also participated in this year's World Championships, where the Croatian national team, after a fierce battle with Australia's team, failed to secure a spot in the knockout stages.
"Dado Pršo called me and said that due to knee problems, he no longer wants to risk it and is withdrawing from the national team," said Vlatko Markovičius.
"Without a doubt, he was one of the best players in our country in recent years. However, competing in the Scottish championship, Scottish Cup, European tournaments, and the national team all at once is very difficult and he decided not to take any risks."
"He had to make a choice and decided that it was time to end his career in the national team of his homeland."
