The "Levante" club, competing in the Spanish championship, has signed a contract with Cesare Martina, a defender from Italy who represented the club last season and previously played for La Coruna.
"Tommasi is a player of Levante," confirmed club president Pedro Villarroel at a press conference on Tuesday. "We hope that he will arrive in Valencia tomorrow to sign the contract."
P. Villarroel stated that the 32-year-old player, who has represented the "Roma" team since 1996, reached an agreement to leave the "Serie A" club on Monday. With Roma, D. Tommasi became an Italian champion in 2001 and won the Supercup. The footballer began his career at "Verona" club and has also played for the Italian national team.
Furthermore, the President of "Levante" confirmed that the club acquired former Spanish national team midfielder C. Martina from the "Deportivo" team. The 29-year-old player spent seven years in La Coruna, but only played seven matches in the league last season.
The "Levante" team, which finished third in the second division last season and earned the right to compete in the "Primera" league, has recently strengthened with players from France - midfielder Laurent Robert and defender Frederic Dehu.
