After a three-year break, Christian Abbiati returned to the highest Italian league strengthened as the goalkeeper of the club. The 29-year-old Italian was loaned to the Turin club for the season with the possibility of later acquiring him.
Last season, the player spent time at another Turin team, Juventus, where he was also loaned to and took over the injured Gianluigi Buffon's place in goal. C.Abbiati, who has been treating his shoulder for the past few months, played 19 matches in the Italian championship and six matches in the Champions League while at Juventus.
The goalkeeper, who has represented the Italian national team four times, has been a backup in AC Milan in recent seasons and had to make room for Dida. He was linked to Roma, Inter, and Arsenal, but chose the less famous Turin to secure a place in the starting lineup.
