"Portsmouth" tries to buy N.Anelka © EuroFootball.com

"Former French national team forward confirmed that he is talking to the club about a possible move for over £8.2 million and also stated that interest in him is shown by the "Blackburn" and "Bolton" clubs.

"Portsmouth" showed interest in former "Man City" striker a few weeks ago and N.Anelka is now convinced that his Turkish club will accept the price offered by the English club.

""Portsmouth" is the only club that has made a specific offer for me. "Fenerbahce" club would like to keep me, but they understand that I would like to return to a powerful European league," Anelka said.

"I have already spoken to coach Harry Redknapp, he knows me well. My goal would be to join a club that constantly plays in the Champions League, but I can't force them to buy me. If I move to "Portsmouth" club, I will be ready to give my all. The same with "Bolton" and "Blackburn," whose coaches have also been in touch with me. Hope that everything will be resolved in the next ten days, as both I and the club would like to know everything as soon as possible," said the Frenchman.

The 27-year-old striker, who has played for Madrid's "Real", "Arsenal", "Liverpool" and "P.S.G", scored 46 goals wearing "Man City" club's shirt, but claimed that he joined the latter team against his will and accused former Liverpool team strategist Gerard Houllier of ruining his career by refusing to sign him after a loan deal.

"When he told me at the last minute that he was not going to keep me, I found myself in a difficult situation because I had not spoken to other clubs, and I ended up at "Man City" against my will. Gerard Houllier is responsible for what happened to me. If he had not refused me at the "Liverpool" club, I would not have had to play for unknown clubs for the last four years, which I never even thought of moving to," the player lamented.

The Frenchman also expressed his annoyance at the 'tough character' label that was attached to him: "I have heard that people in the "Man City" club said bad things about me to other clubs that were interested in me. Clubs should just ask players who have played with me and then they would see. It's unbelievable, because I have never had problems playing in England except when in 1999 I asked to leave "Arsenal." If big clubs do not invite me, it is certainly not because of how I play. It is very annoying, because I know that I can play as good or even better than their forwards."
