The Italian Cup was won by the footballers of Rome's "Lazio". This was revealed after the final return leg match held in Turin, at the "Delle Alpi" stadium. Although "Juventus" managed to claw back the two-goal deficit at the beginning of the match, which occurred after the first leg, "Lazio" seemed determined to win the cup and scored two goals, thus securing their victory. This failure means that the Turin team, known as the "old lady", will remain without trophies this season. Moreover, these were the last matches of Juventus coach Marcello Lippi at the helm of the team, as he announced his departure from the club immediately after the end of the season. "Lazio", winning the cup, secured the right to play in the first stage of next year's UEFA Cup, while "Juventus", finishing third in the league, will have to play in the third qualifying round of the Champions League next year if they want to enter the group stage.
