This summer, the rapidly strengthening Atletico Madrid agreed on another player acquisition - on Wednesday, the capital club agreed on the acquisition of forward Mista from the club.

The 27-year-old Mista, who has represented the Spanish national team three times, is expected to undergo a medical examination today and sign a four-year contract. The Spanish media reports that "Valencia" will receive about five million euros for their most productive player from the 2003-2004 season.

Although Mista played in 29 games for Valencia last season, in 19 of them he came on as a substitute, as Valencia's coach Quique Sanchez Flores preferred the attacking duo of Pablo Aimar and David Villa.

Mista became surplus to requirements for the Valencia team after longtime Spanish national team and Real Madrid forward Fernando Morientes joined the squad.

This summer, Atletico has already strengthened with several highly capable players: they acquired the young Argentine star Sergio Aguero, Portugal's national team midfielder Costinha, defender Ze Castro, Spain's national team left-back Mariano Pernia, and Greece's national team defender Giourkas Seitaridis.
