When qualifying matches of the Champions League were taking place in many European countries, the last match of the 12th round of the Russian "Premier" League took place in Kazanė.

In case of a victory for "Rubin" from Kazanė, they would have risen to second place, and "Shinnik" from Yaroslavl would have leveled up with Moscow clubs "Dynamo" and "Torpedo" in points. During the match, Kazanė's footballers had more opportunities to score, did not want to stay in debt like "Shinnik", but the teams failed to score goals and the hosts had to settle for a draw.
Such a "dry" result meant that "Rubin" added one point to their account and, having overtaken Moscow clubs "Spartak" and "Lokomotiv", moved up to the third place in the standings, while "Shinnik" remained last and lagged behind "Torpedo" and "Dynamo" by two points.
The next round of the championship will start on Saturday - Perm's "Amkar" will play against Moscow's "Spartak", and in one of the many derby matches in the capital, "Torpedo" will meet "CSKA". Five matches will take place on Sunday, while the match of the championship leader Nalchik's "Spartak" away against "Rostov" will be played on Monday.
