One Lithuanian club has already passed the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup - in Marijampolė, the local "Sūduva" team, after a tumultuous, intense, and nerve-wracking battle, defeated the "Rhyl" team from Wales and moved on. Further Lithuanian opponents will be revealed on Friday afternoon after drawing lots for the second round.
The meeting consisted of two different halves - in the first, the Marijampolians dominated and rightfully took the lead after D. Maciulevičius' goal from a penalty and T. Mikuckis' header, but in the second half, the guests took over the initiative and, as the match neared the end, scored a goal and greatly unsettled the hosts.
