Postponed matches between Southampton and Newcastle in the English Premier League ended in a productive 3-3 draw. These points prevented the Newcastle team from playing in the UEFA Champions League next year, as they became unavailable in 4th place.

Newcastle started the game focused and knowing they had to win, they attacked. In the 7th minute, S.Ameobi scored the first goal and put Newcastle ahead. However, in the 19th minute, J.Beattie equalized after a low cross. In the 35th minute, Newcastle once again pushed ahead - Ameobi passed the ball and L.Bowyer sent it into the net. However, Southampton didn't falter and just four minutes later scored again - after a low cross from the side, defender Titus Bramble sent the ball into his own net. At the end of the second half, Newcastle's hopes were dashed after Leandre Griffit's goal. During added time, young Darren Ambrose struck accurately from 25 meters, but it was not enough.
