The Italian football league has confirmed that the new "Serie A" season will begin on September 10. Although it was planned for the usual start of the championship at the end of August, which is the 27th, this date became unrealistic due to the ongoing chaos in Italian football for the second consecutive summer.

So, due to various appeals concerning the corruption scandal and the threat of another trial involving more clubs, the start of the new 2006/07 season was postponed by two weeks and is expected to begin after the international break.

This means that the season will not be started by clubs, but by the national team - world champions in Naples on September 2nd against the Lithuanian national team. "Serie A" will start on September 10th and will finish on May 27, 2007, while "Serie B" will begin on September 9 and end on June 10 next year.

In the top league season, there will be four rounds when teams will play midweek matches and four breaks on weekends due to international competitions and Christmas. The Italian Cup will begin on August 19 and the finals will be played on April 18 and May 9, 2007, while the Italian Super Cup match between the newly crowned champion Milano "Inter" and last season's cup finalist "Roma" club will take place on August 26th.
