R.Ayala ready to leave "Valencia" © EuroFootball.com

Argentinian national team defender Roberto Ayala has told the club that he would like to leave the team as soon as possible. The Argentinian's contract with "Los Che" is valid until 2007, but talks about the player leaving "La Mestalla" have been ongoing for several months.

The player decided to leave the team after a dispute with club president Juan Soler. The 33-year-old defender had previously discussed renewing his contract with the president, but now J. Soler has changed the terms of their agreement and presented him with a poorer offer.

"In May, we talked about the financial conditions, but now the offer is worse," explained the experienced player. "This is a complete disrespect to me and the best decision would be to leave the team."

The defender is also being courted by another Spanish club, "Villarreal," but they only offered a sum of 3 million euros, which Valencia's club considered too low. Even if the "Yellow Submarine" increases the proposed price, R. Ayala is unlikely to want to play for a club that does not participate in the UEFA Champions League.
