Spanish national team forward Jose Antonio Reyes has stated that he hopes to transfer to Real Madrid before the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round match between London and Zagreb's "Dinamo" on Tuesday.
"The coach (Arsene Wenger) has not told me anything yet, and I don't know if I will play or not. I hope I won't play, or that everything will be resolved by then," the forward was quoted by the Spanish sports newspaper "Marca." "It is obvious that if I play on Tuesday, my chances of moving to Real will be very complicated. But if I have to play, I will play."
European champions "Real" have previously stated that they will only call up players who can play in all tournaments. If J.A. Reyes appears in the lineup for Arsenal against "Dinamo," he will no longer be able to represent Real in European tournaments this season.
Real has not hidden their desire to acquire the Spaniard, who was worth around 20 million pounds at Arsenal in 2004. However, on Wednesday, the Royal Club's sports director Predrag Mijatovic stated that acquiring J.A. Reyes is not a priority.
Reyes himself denied rumors of a transfer to Real last week, but on Friday he said differently: "I know that Arsenal and the club's fans want me, but I have not gotten used to life in England. I miss Spain, and Real can offer me a unique opportunity. Everyone must understand that I cannot miss such an opportunity. Real Madrid is a unique club."
"I don't know what's going on now, but all these rumors really bother me," the Spaniard said.
